    Catherine Critcher visited New Mexico for the first time in 1920. The people and the landscape thrilled her. "Taos is unlike any place God ever made," she wrote. She painted portraits and genre scenes that captured the ancient communal rituals of Pueblo Indians in northern New Mexico and became the only female artist every elected into the Taos Society of Artists in 1924.
  • Condition: This painting has been examined under black light which reveals five small scattered spots of in painting in the upper white background. Overall, this is a fine, clean and tight canvas.
