This is a very unusual and unique Yei Be Chei pictorial rug. From the mix of natural and commercial wool to seven figures that are surrounded by a variety of symbology, a distinct narrative is being told. Dancers in detailed skirts are encompassed with feathers, weaving combs, and bows and arrows. From its bold colors to intricate design, this rug shows a weaver who was a master of their art.
41 3/4 x 70 in. (106 x 177.8 cm.)

  • Provenance: The Gregory Warren Nelson Collection, New Mexico
  • Condition: This rug is in good/fair condition overall. A few repairs ranging approximately from the size of a nickel to a quarter. A hole approximately the size of a dime at the lower right corner and a hole approximately the size of a quarter in the top left corner. Minor bleeding of the kilt at the knees in third Yei from the left . Minor fading on B side commensurate with age.
