This image, from portfolio I of Edward Curtis' The North American Indian, is relatively rare in the goldtone photographic process. Depicting an Apache man on horseback, surrounded by yucca, the goldtone process beautifully renders Curtis' artistic ability to blend aesthetic beauty with cultural significance, making the image a powerful reminder of the connection between Native peoples and the land they inhabited.
  • Condition: This goldtone is in very good condition overall.
There are a few, very minor marks to the gold-backing that are visible upon close inspection.
The original frame is in very good condition.
