Henriette Wyeth was the daughter of artist N.C. Wyeth, one of the most acclaimed illustrators of the twentieth century. She studied with him, at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and later in Paris, where she was exposed to a variety of artistic movements. Throughout her career, she produced a diverse body of work, including portraits, still lifes, and landscapes, and her paintings often reflect a deep connection to nature and the rich cultural heritage of her surroundings. The painting 'Earthenware and Apples' was once in The Clinton Taylor Foundation (a significant private art collection focused on American art, particularly notable for its extensive representation of works by the members of the Wyeth family).

Today, her paintings are found in the collections of the Brandywine River Museum, the Los Angeles Athletic Club, the National Portrait Gallery, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Delaware Art Museum, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Newark Museum of Art, and many others.
  • Condition: This painting is in overall good condition. There is a very fine scattered craquelure in areas with thicker paint, commensurate with age. There are a few scattered pinprick size spots of paint loss. No evidence of restoration under blacklight.

The condition reports for the lots offered by Santa Fe Art Auction (SFAA) are provided as a courtesy and convenience for potential buyers. The reports are not intended to nor do they substitute for physical examination by a buyer or the buyer's advisors. The condition reports are prepared by SFAA staff members who are not art conservators or restorers, nor do they possess the qualifications needed for comprehensive evaluation. Each condition report is an opinion of the staff member and should not be treated as a statement of fact. The absence of a condition report does not imply anything as to the condition of a particular lot. Buyers are reminded that the limited warranties are set forth in the Terms and Conditions of Sale and do not extend to condition. Each lot is sold as-is.
