  • Provenance: Private Collection, New Mexico

Ilya Bolotowsky was a Russian-born American geometric abstractionist, a founder of American Abstract Artists and an early U.S. follower of De Stijl/Mondrian. From the 1930s on he rotated the square to a diamond, using perfectly balanced bands and planes of color to explore proportion, rhythm, and equilibrium. Blue Diamond (Polygon) is one of his late, editioned prints that translate his diamond-shaped paintings to paper.
  • Condition: This print is in very good condition overall.
There are a few, scattered, very minor surface marks, visible only upon close inspection in bright light.
