    Shonto Begay (b. 1954) is a Diné (Navajo) artist and educator known for his vibrant watercolor and mixed-media paintings that capture contemporary Navajo life and the landscapes of the American Southwest. Born in Shonto, Arizona, Begay draws inspiration from his childhood experiences on the reservation, blending personal memory, cultural stories, and social commentary. His work often portrays everyday life, traditional ceremonies, and the natural beauty of the desert with expressive color and movement.
