A member of the Kiowa and Caddo tribes, T.C. Cannon's work often explored the complexities of Native identity and culture in a modern context. One of his notable woodcuts, "Woman at Window," created in 1978, exemplifies Cannon's ability to fuse realism with symbolism.

The window serves as a powerful metaphor for looking beyond one's immediate surroundings, suggesting themes of longing, possibility, and the intersection of past and present. Tragically, Cannon's life was cut short in a car accident at the age of 31, the same year "Woman at Window" was printed, but his father, Walter Cannon, took on the responsibility of managing his son's estate and legacy. T.C. Cannon's works are included in many prestigious museum collections, such as the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian, the Heard Museum, and the Denver Art Museum.
