Jed Fielding is an American street photographer known for intimate, close-range black-and-white portraits made in places like Naples and Mexico City. He earned a BFA at RISD studying with Aaron Siskind and Harry Callahan (1975), and an MFA at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (1980, with Kenneth Josephson). His books include City of Secrets: Photographs of Naples (1997) and Look at Me: Photographs from Mexico City (2009), the latter a sensitive series on students at schools for the blind; most recently he published Encounter with the Museum of Photographic Arts (2022). Critics describe his pictures as vigorous, joyful, and "in-your-face," emphasizing physical presence and human connection; major exhibitions include MOPA's 2022 survey, and his work is held by institutions such as the ICP, Art Institute of Chicago, MoCP, Walker Art Center, and CCP.
  • Condition: This piece is in very good condition overall.

The condition reports for the lots offered by Santa Fe Art Auction (SFAA) are provided as a courtesy and convenience for potential buyers. The reports are not intended to nor do they substitute for physical examination by a buyer or the buyer's advisors. The condition reports are prepared by SFAA staff members who are not art conservators or restorers, nor do they possess the qualifications needed for comprehensive evaluation. Each condition report is an opinion of the staff member and should not be treated as a statement of fact. The absence of a condition report does not imply anything as to the condition of a particular lot. Buyers are reminded that the limited warranties are set forth in the Terms and Conditions of Sale and do not extend to condition. Each lot is sold as-is.
